Triple Blondies

Triple Blondies | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
I’m gaining a new appreciation for the Golden Oreo. First it was the Fluffernutter Oreo Moon Pies and now it’s these Triple Blondies. Also, I will say a Golden Oreo is divine dunked in hot chocolate.

This recipe which I got from What’s Gaby Cooking, was originally called Slutty Blondies. I couldn’t resist right? You know I love a slutty brownie. However, I changed the name to Triple Blondies, because I can not, in good faith, give these the “slutty” moniker. I believe part of the reason they’re called slutty is because they’re easy to make… ha! Get it? The reason traditional slutty brownies are easy to make is because you use refrigerator cookie dough and brownie mix. This recipe requires you to make the cookie dough and brownie batter from scratch.

But don’t be scared, it’s still pretty straightforward. Continue reading

Peanut Butter Cup Caramel Bars

Peanut Butter Cup Caramel Bars | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
This recipe convinced me to go back to full size peanut butter cups. By accident. For some reason I thought it called for full size peanut butter cups. Happy accident.

Previously I equated baking with peanut butter cups to Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures. And what’s not to love about eating the leftover miniatures? One bite and you’re in chocolate and peanut butter heaven. Although, there were those sassy cups whose chocolate ridges stuck to the inside of the paper liner. Who gave those cups such sass? Copycat Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies

Copycat Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead

It’s the most awful time of the year. Nope, not talking about Thanksgiving, because I love Thanksgiving. Not talking about Christmas, I love Christmas. Not talking about fall, winter etc. I’m talking about shopping season.

I’m not against shopping as a whole, I just dread this time of year when everyone is shopping all at once, and sometimes being kinda dickish about it. That said, I’ll admit, I can get flustered over things that might seem trivial to others. Continue reading

Peanut Butter Jelly Bars

Peanut Butter Jelly Bars | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
It’s peanut butter jelly time! Peanut butter jelly time! Peanut butter jelly! Peanut butter jelly! Peanut butter jelly with a baseball bat!

I’m still in my bar phase. I wish I was in a Barre phase and going to Barre classes twice a day, everyday. My ass would have its own Instagram account.

Maybe if I bought spiffy $50 Nike Studio Wraps, I’d go to more Barre classes at CRE8FIT. Continue reading

Vegan Blondies

Vegan Chocolate Chip Blondies | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
Vegans are like rabbits. They eat carrots and they multiply… you know, like rabbits. I wonder if their feet when cut off and attached to key chains are lucky? Being that they are vegan, they would probably disapproved of me testing this theory.

I swear my circle of vegan friends has doubled this year, and as much as those rascally rabbits love my Chocolate Stout Brownies and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, I’m in the middle of my “bar stage.” Don’t worry, I’m not frequently bars by myself ordering cheap beer and eating peanuts for dinner, this is far more sinister: have you noticed pretty much all of September was bar cookie posts? What can I say, I’m lazy. I like not having to wait to scoop out another dozen rounds of cookie dough and not having to prepare parchment paper for cookie sheets. Continue reading

Chocolate Revel Bars

Chocolate Revel Bars | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
You’ll forgive me if this post is similar to the last one right? You wouldn’t deny an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie in bar form would you?

I told you that most of my baked goods need to be ultra portable, so I often resort to bars since they: a) pack easier, and b) hold up better to rough-housing Delta baggage handlers. Continue reading

Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip Bars

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
So remember how I met my blogger friend Anna from Cookie Madness in Austin? Well, to celebrate the occasion I knew I had to make something from her blog for the occasion. I had been hankering to make some blondes, and of course Cookie Madness has a LOT of choices, not to mention Anna’s book The Daily Cookie.

The words “peanut butter chips” and “shiny top” immediately attracted me to this recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip Bars.

For a recipe so simple, I have one word: Whoa. They did not disappoint! Continue reading

S’More Brownie Bars

Smore Brownie Bars | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
Something wonderful has happened. You know, like when it’s a rainy day and there just happens to be a Law & Order SVU marathon. Or when your favorite running shoe, in your size, goes on sale. Or when you run out of mascara exactly when Clinique bonus time starts.

You are on the edge of your seat now wondering what happened.

S’more met brownie. THAT’S what happened. Mind. Blown. Continue reading

Gluten Free Brownies

Gluten Free Brownies | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
Friends are a basic need of human life. I would say third after air and water. Food is important too, but as long as you have good friends, they’ll have a granola bar.

Friends take five-day road trips with you. Friends make it okay to buy an entire DQ ice cream cake for no reason. Friends make you mix tapes cds. Friends heckle the green knight with you at Medieval Times. Friends let you eat their pizza crust. Friends don’t let you leave the bar with that dude on the motorcycle. Friends clean and bandage the road rash on your bum. Friends help you out of clothes you become trapped in, in a dressing room. Friends get naked with you in a bath tub, film it, and turn it into a school project.

Friends ask you to bake for their wedding because they know you’re kinda obsessed with baking and have a blog about it.

Friends accept your invitation to bake for a wedding even if it’s gluten-free and they’ve never baked anything gluten-free before. Continue reading

Backpacker Bars

Backpacker Bars | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
What happens when you combine blondies and a granola bar? Backpacker bars! You thought I was going to say blondola bars didn’t you?

I believe the fine folks at Betty Crocker dubbed these “backpacker bars” because a) they give you “energy” on a camping journey through the wilderness and b) they make a great backpack snack for the kiddies. We can debate the accuracy of these assumptions, including if peanuts, chocolate, sugar and flour really make for lasting “energy” or a good “snack,” but one thing that is not up for debate on this blog: oatmeal + chocolate + peanuts = delicious.
