Oh slutty brownies, you triple-threat temptress. Tempting everyone to eat you, but also tempting me to find new combos for you. Maybe it was those damn peanut butter cup s’more bars that got me craving the peanut butter and chocolate combo, maybe I was reminiscing about elementary school lunches, but one thing lead to another and I might have put another Little Debbie classic betwixt cookie and brownie. I have no shame.

Nutty Bars
If definitely started with the Nutty Bars. I wanted an excuse to use Nutty Bars. They were a lunchbox favorite when I was a kid. I think they could be the result of a hookup between a Kit Kat bar and a Reese peanut butter cup. Yep, that is some scandalous fourth grade bliss right there. I liked to peel them apart lengthwise into sections and eat them – Oreo style. Wait a sec… why did I never think to dunk these in milk too?

They were a bit fragile though. The ice pack in my lunch bag had a tendency to crush the poor Nutty Bars. Jerk.

So how do we protect the Nutty Bars? We surround them in a layer of peanut butter cookie and a layer of brownie. Duh.

I made these in an 8×8 pan because I knew the Nutty Bars would be thick and so I would need the bars to be thick as well if I wanted the brownie batter to cover them entirely. I’d suggest if you make these in a 9×13 to split the Nutty Bars in half lengthwise like nine-year old Red used to do.

These harlots are as rich and sinful as they look. The added bonus is the bit of crunch you get when you bite through the brownies, thanks to the crispy inside of the Nutty Bar. I will admit though – the longer these sit, the less crisp each bite gets since the wafers inside the bars begin to absorb the moisture of the brownies. Oddly enough… nobody seemed to mind.

If you needed one last reason to go out and make these, I’ll give you one: there’s an extra pack of Nutty Bars left over when you’re done. Cause you’ll need something to snack on while these are baking anyway.

Ingredients
1 pkg peanut butter cookie dough (16 oz)
1 pkg Nutty Bars
1 box brownie mix and brownie mix ingredients

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8×8 pan with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.

Press peanut butter cookie dough into bottom of pan.

Place Nutty Bars on top of cookie dough.

Prepare brownie mix per instructions on box. Pour brownie mix over Nutty Bars. Bake 40 – 45 minutes, until sides begin to pull away from the pan. Don’t be afraid if the center seems underdone and it fails the toothpick test. Slutty brownies are exceptionally fudgey thanks to the craziness packed inside.

**To make in a 9×13 pan, you’ll need two 16oz packages of cookie dough OR, whip up a homemade batch or batch from mix. Split the Nutty Bars in half lengthwise and make sure the brownie mix box states it is for a “family size” or 9×13 pan. Bake according to brownie directions, but add 10 minutes.
