Cracked Sugar Cookies

Cracked Top Sugar Cookies | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
I hate recipes that say things like “best ever [insert food]” or “life changing [insert food here]” or “last [insert food here] recipe you’ll ever need.” In fact, I have yet to try one of those recipes that actually have the promised mind blowing effect.

But when a recipe is called “sugar cookies on crack” – oh yeah, that’s all me.

Kinda like “slutty brownies” right?

This is so NOT a PG-13 blog. There’s lots of adult baking going on here. Continue reading

Gluten Free Brownies

Gluten Free Brownies | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
Friends are a basic need of human life. I would say third after air and water. Food is important too, but as long as you have good friends, they’ll have a granola bar.

Friends take five-day road trips with you. Friends make it okay to buy an entire DQ ice cream cake for no reason. Friends make you mix tapes cds. Friends heckle the green knight with you at Medieval Times. Friends let you eat their pizza crust. Friends don’t let you leave the bar with that dude on the motorcycle. Friends clean and bandage the road rash on your bum. Friends help you out of clothes you become trapped in, in a dressing room. Friends get naked with you in a bath tub, film it, and turn it into a school project.

Friends ask you to bake for their wedding because they know you’re kinda obsessed with baking and have a blog about it.

Friends accept your invitation to bake for a wedding even if it’s gluten-free and they’ve never baked anything gluten-free before. Continue reading

Fired Up Friday Sept 6

I have a new reason to love Fridays. The day sort of lost relevance to me when I started working from home and the fact that I have to work most weekends anyway. Friday began to blend in with every other day of the week (except rush hour started sooner). Continue reading

Oreo Banana Pudding

Oreo Banana Pudding | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
How come when everyone has ripe bananas left over they think “banana bread”?

How come when you hear the word “Oreo” you automatically think of the chocolate cookie variety?

Oreo Banana Pudding | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
It’s the 21st century people. Let’s think outside the box. Let’s think of a better phrase than “thinking outside of the box.” I hereby declare Oreo Banana Pudding an “over the moat” idea for leftover bananas and Oreos. Continue reading

I work for a race team. A really awesome, fast, kick ass, respected race team. This is the first time I’ve worked for a team. Previously, I’ve always worked for a racing series. I’m still struggling to feel a part of the team. I’m the new kid and I’m the one that is around the least since I don’t work at the race shop and on race weekends my duties often keep me far from the cars and crew.

Since I’ve come on board, we’ve won twice, and it felt amazing. But, even though people congratulated me, I never felt like “I” won. I never turned a wrench, changed a tire or agonized over data. I was just proud of my team because “they” won. Continue reading

Stuffed Turkey Burgers

Stuffed Turkey Burgers | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
Wouldn’t it be awesome if these turkey burgers were stuffed with traditional stuffing and I could call them Thanksgiving burgers? Meh, maybe not. It’s probably better that they’re stuffed with goat cheese. Does that mean I should call them goatsgiving burgers? No, that sounds like some kind of ritual animal sacrifice.

But an FYI, since I brought it up: Thanksgiving is 87 days away. In case you were counting the days to turkey, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. Yep, I’m jumping on the fall bandwagon. Continue reading

The dreaded return to the gym after vacation. It hurts. It hurts.

So I put Serena Ryder in my ear. Makes me move.

Fauxstess Cupcakes

Fauxstess Cupcakes | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
I’m not a big fan of copy cat recipes, because, let’s be honest, the secret ingredient in commercial baked goods is preservatives, which neither Publix nor Kroger sell. Still I get sucked in by the beautiful blog photos and the idea that I could make my very own Hostess, Little Debbie or Starbucks treat. Mostly because it feels like it would only be half as bad for me if I made it myself. Hey, if there aren’t any preservatives, that could be half true. Redhead math just kicked in and told me that half as bad minus half true equals a pretend Hostess Chocolate Cupcake.

I was not allowed Hostess or Little Debbie type products as a kid. Being bared from such cream-filled and frosted wonders likely explains my peculiar personality and behavior. No, wait, the red hair and the ovaries explain that. Continue reading

Surely by now, you are used to me abandoning you and like any good absentee parent, I return with excuses and apologies. I’m sorry, here’s where I was.

I was at the race track again.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies | Adventures of a Hungry Redhead
Poor white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies. You are the forgotten cookie. The least requested. The last to get picked from the dessert tray. The most likely to end up on the clearance shelf. But why? You are so buttery, a hint of salty and the right mix of crunch and creamy.

Perhaps it’s the white chocolate. There’s not many people that would willingly pick white chocolate over semi-sweet chocolate. Continue reading
